Question 2007 proof presidential $1 coins
I ordered from the mint the 2007 Silver proof mint set. I noticed that Washington's coin was weakly struck, compared to the other pres coins, and even the circulated coins. His eyes were barely visible, poor cheek and nasal lines and the back of his hair was free of strikes.
Anyone else notice this, and could it be a potential rarity? The Great Ag |

Interesting question - I do not have one of those sets.........and I haven't seen enough to know......... What I HAVE thought was interesting on those coins tho, was that the grades seen low - few if any MS70s or 80s.......more 66 & 67s.......... And I always thought Washington had shifty, barely visible eyes! :D |

It was funny, this evening, my little girl, almost 4, thought they were pretty and asked why we could not sort them, as we had done two days prior with some silver junk. I began to explain this were encased in plastic and that Daddy was, and before I could finish, she said, "going to sell them" with a dour face. She is learning already. Her face did liven up when I showed her the same set I bought for her. Then she was happy. The Great Ag |

I have thought about picking up a set of these - but I also keep hearing its the single most collected series and if it is - who will be left to buy one? |

1. I buy the silver set. Lowest mintage of all, and hey it has just over 1 oz of silver, (1.85) or 1.43 oz of pure ag. I figure I cannot go wrong that way. Yes the state quarters are the most bought product, and the mint is happy. I figure not many will have the silver set, and 2. As you stated earlier, more buyers are entering the market, so there will always another sucker. . .err. . .I mean buyer. The Great Ag |

I've got a couple of sets but haven't noticed anything amiss with GW (no B)

I will post a pic tonight. Your Geo. Washington has much more detail than mine. His face appears almost flat and featureless. Either a weak strike or the dies were worn for mine. The other coins seem well and fully struck. The Great Ag |

I sneer at your puny second (or worse) strike weepy looking GW. |
Re: Question 2007 proof presidential $1 coins
I'll take a look at mine later. I think I have five sets (I order two unc. sets, proof sets and silver proof sets each year (so that's four right there) and I also had a presidential proof set thrown in on an ebay auction I bought recently). I always break open one of each set for my Shield Intercept Albums and keep one set in their mint plastic packaging.

Re: Question 2007 proof presidential $1 coins
Hey, Turnerson: What are your intentions for all the prez "dollars" you are buying? For me, they are a cheap investment. Once I have a complete set, I intend to sell them for maximum value, whether as a package, or slabbed, or for target practice.
Anyway, here is a pic of Geo. Washington. compare it to Tom D's. Okay, Tom is a far better photographer than I, so no wise cracks. Weak strike or worn dies, any ideas? The Great Ag http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/000_0007.jpg |
Re: Question 2007 proof presidential $1 coins
I'm not buying the Presidential sets - I buy the Uncirculated, Proof and Silver Proof sets - 2 of each. The Presidential sets just happen to come with (one in each). So, I have 2 Unc. sets and 4 proof sets (there is no difference between the silver proof and regular proof, since the Pres coins aren't silver). Anyway, I'm not sure what I'll do with them - probably keep them until I have several complete sets, then sell them off.
